The praying of God’s people- an indispensable propeller
PRAYING MARANATHA: COME, O LORD. 1 Cor 16:22, Rev 22:7, 12.
Hymn-
Give us O Lord
Give us O Lord
1. Not gold, not power, not knowledge
Will thy Heavens unlock
But prayer and faith and unity
Will bring the latter Rain
2. With tears and groans and fasting
O Lord, help us to pray
Travailing as in birth for Souls
Till you revive the Church
O come, O come, Emmanuel,
(1) O come, O come, Emmanuel,
And ransom captive Israel,
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear.
Refrain: Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
(2) O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free,
Thine own from Satan's tyranny;
From depths of hell thy people save,
And give them victory o'er the grave.
Refrain: Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
(3) O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free,
Thine own from Satan's tyranny;
From depths of hell thy people save,
And give them victory o'er the grave.
Refrain: Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
Maranatha, that is Come Lord Jesus usually comes through the sincere heart cry of the people of God.
You will remember that in the days of the Israelites, God responded to the sincere heart cry of His people in Egypt. (Exodus 3:9), also it was a cry that God heard concerning the people of Sodom and Gomorrah and then came down to judge that land.
Every Revival that came both in the Bible and even in our contemporary days hinges on the
prayer of God’s people.
Therefore, as we seek the Lord to come both in personal, national, generational and even church Revival, we can not underestimate the power of prayer.
In Acts 1:12-14, we read that after Christ commanded His disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit, the disciples went and tarried in the upper room praying in one accord. Then came Pentecost Also in Acts 12, after Herod killed Bro James, and then laid his hands on Peter to kill him after Easter, the church met to pray in the house of Mary the mother of John Mark, and God heard their cry.
Our Lord exemplified this for us through out His life time on earth, and even while on the
Cross of Calvary, He was still praying.
Jer 33:3, Is 65:24 both gave us God’s reassured word on the definiteness of God’s response to
prayer.
Anna, the daughter of Phanuel– a woman who prayed for the consolation of Israel to come.
Luke 2:36-38 36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity; 37 And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. 38 And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.
