The Captain of the Lord’s army has arisen on our behalf
PRAYING MARANATHA: COME, O LORD. 1 Cor16:22, Rev 22:7, 12.
Hymn-
HOLD THE FORT
1. Ho, my comrades!
see the signal
waving in the sky!
Reinforcements now appearing, victory
is nigh.
Refrain
“Hold the fort, for I am coming,”
Jesus signals still;
Wave the answer back to Heaven,
“
By Thy grace we will.”
2. See the mighty host advancing,
Satan leading on;
Mighty ones around us falling, courage
almost gone!
3. See the glorious banner waving!
Hear the trumpet blow!
In our Leader’s Name we triumph
over ev’ry foe.
Refrain
4. Fierce and long the battle rages,
but
our help is near;
Onward comes our great Commander,
cheer, my comrades, cheer!
Refrain
Joshua 5:13-15
13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and,
behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went
unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?
14 And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come. And Joshua fell on
his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my Lord unto his servant?
15 And the captain of the Lord's host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for
the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.
The instruction that came as to how to take over Jericho in chapter 6 only came after this encounter.
The captain of the Lord’s army is here!
Joshua could only see this captain because he lifted up his eyes. He might have been going with
his past experience until he lifted up his eyes.
This Captain of the Lord’s army had gone ahead of Joshua and his troops. He was sent ahead of
them, oh, the cross before us, the battle is won. The cross in the nations, souls for heaven.
Take off your shoe could mean, take off your past experiences or past ways of handling matters,
put off your mindset, take off your source of hope and livelihood.
Take off your shoe could mean, relinquish your right.
Take off your shoe could mean, your place of authority.
Take off thy shoe concerning your child, your marriage, your health, the nations, the church etc
The captain of the Lord’s army is here!
Take off your shoe. If we shall see Maranatha, we must
of necessity take off our shoes.
Ruth 4:7-8, Exodus 3:1-5.
